Tom Sparks: Music

I Try

(performed by Dana Wittman)
written by Constance Walsh & Tom Sparks
I sit here forever with a pen in my hand,
Paralyzed by fear that you won't understand.
My need to tell you how I feel, it grows strong;
My fear stops me from saying what I fear is all wrong.

I try to speak, a stranger's words only come out,
I try to talk softly, but I only hear shouts.
I try to be strong, but I turn timid and weak;
You never take the time to hear me speak.
I'm not the same girl you met years ago,
And I won't hide behind this mask any more.

Why is it when I want to tell you something isn't right,
My stomach caves in slowly 'cause you're no where in sight?
I've told you how this emptiness just cries through my veins,
Heavy tears are pouring down from my eyes like rain.

I try to speak, a stranger's words only come out,
I try to talk softly, but I only hear shouts.
I try to be strong, but I turn timid and weak;
You never take the time to hear me speak.
I'm not the same girl you met years ago,
And I won't hide behind this mask any more.

I'm walking through life's gardens with blindfolds on;
I listen to the music and I can't hear the song.
I can't figure out who is telling the truth anymore.
I've had enough, 'cause now I see,
I'm trapped inside this shell of me!

I try to speak, a stranger's words only come out,
I try to talk softly, but I only hear shouts.
I try to be strong, but I turn timid and weak;
You never take the time to hear me speak.
I'm not the same girl you met years ago,
And I won't hide behind this mask any more.
